In collaboration with the Anti-Racism task force of the Episcopal Diocese of Middle Tennessee, Christian Scholars' Conference attendees are invited on the morning of June 7th to memorialize the victims of lynching and racial terror in Davidson County. The service will be held at Fisk Memorial Chapel on the historic campus of Fisk University in North Nashville. Nontombi Naomi Tutu, daughter of Bishop Desmond Tutu and local Race and Gender Justice Activist, will be the guest speaker. Music will be provided by the a cappella group “Just Us” made up of local Fisk Jubilee Singer alumni. At the conclusion of the service, a permanent historical marker listing the names of the victims will be dedicated on the nearby campus of St. Anselm’s Episcopal Church. We then return to Lipscomb University where the experience continues with lunch, Civil Rights sessions, the James H. Cone Plenary, and conversation.
Cost is $20 a person which covers transportation to and from campus, lunch, sessions and plenary event, and dinner. This pilgrimage starts at 8:00 am June 7th from Lipscomb University's campus. Price increases to $30 after May 9, seating is limited.
We are sorry, but the registration period for this event has closed.
